Across East Africa, the counterfeiting and forgery of academic credentials had grown into a crisis. Fake certificates bearing the names of respected universities circulated freely. Employers made hiring decisions based on forged qualifications. Legitimate graduates found their hard-earned degrees devalued by the sheer volume of fraudulent documents in the market. And the institutions themselves — the universities, the colleges, the awarding bodies — saw their reputations eroded by a problem they had limited tools to combat.
We Set Out to Change That
Based in Arusha, Tanzania, and operating across the East African Community, Novaya Technologies was built from the ground up as a specialist document security company. We brought together expertise in secure printing, cybersecurity, software development, and design to create a new standard for credential protection in the region.
From the beginning, we understood that true document security requires more than just a better piece of paper. It requires a system — a complete ecosystem that protects the physical document with advanced security features and simultaneously anchors it to a digital record that can be verified by anyone, anywhere, at any time.
Blockchain-Powered Security
That conviction led us to blockchain technology. Today, every credential we produce is printed with multiple layers of physical security and anchored to an immutable blockchain record. When someone needs to verify a Novaya-secured document, they simply scan it with a smartphone and receive instant confirmation of its authenticity and the legitimacy of the issuing institution.
